Criteria: All deposits are to be federally insured or the financial institutions that have deposits exceeding the federal insurance are to meet the minimum acceptable ratings established by the Government National Mortgage Association. The ratings are to be monitored on a quarterly basis and the monitoring documentation needs to be maintained for three years. Effect: The deposits maintained at the financial institutions are not properly insured. Cause: Deposits held at financial institutions exceeded the FDIC insurance limits. Recommendation: Management should adopt policies and procedures to insure all deposits are federally insured or the financial institution with funds exceeding the federal insurance limit are monitored on a quarterly basis.
