A key element of financial reporting is the ability of management to select and apply the appropriate accounting principles to prepare financial statements in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America. Material audit adjustments were necessary during this year?s audit in order for the financial statements to be in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (U.S. GAAP). Criteria: Internal controls should be in place that provide reasonable assurance that the financial statements are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Recommendation ? We recommend that the organization review expense accounts for reasonableness and have procedures in place to make sure invoices are received in a timely manner. Response ? Management will review material audit adjustments and internal control procedures and will ensure that future adjustments are made or identified prior to the audit. Accounting personnel will request assistance from the auditor in cases of non-routine transactions. Conclusion ? Response accepted.
