Context: As part of our testing, we requested documentation of THE drug-free workplace statement. Cause: Steep Rock Association, Inc. was not aware of the drug-free workplace statement requirement. Effect: Steep Rock Association did not comply with the Uniform Guidance.

Full finding narrative

Criteria: Section 182.200 of the Uniform Guidance requires a drug-free workplace statement be provided to all employees. Condition: Employee handbook which contains drug-free workplace policy and statement was not formally adopted and has not been distributed to employees. Context: As part of our testing, we requested documentation of THE drug-free workplace statement. Cause: Steep Rock Association, Inc. was not aware of the drug-free workplace statement requirement. Effect: Steep Rock Association did not comply with the Uniform Guidance.

Corrective Action Plan

Recommendation: We recommend Steep Rock Association, Inc. adopt an employee handbook which contains the drug-free workplace statement, and that it be provided to all employees. The receipt of the handbook, signed by the employee, should be placed in the employee personnel file. Response: Steep Rock Association, Inc. will look into adopting an employee handbook
