Timely Deposit of Surplus Cash Program CFDA #14.181 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities Type of Finding Federal Award Finding Finding Resolution Status Resolved Information on Universe Population Size 1 Sample Size Information 1 Identification of Repeat Finding and Finding Reference Number N/A Criteria The regulatory agreement requires surplus cash payments to be deposited in the residual receipts reserve within 90 days after the fiscal year end. Statement of Condition The 2018 surplus cash deposit was not made within the 60 days after fiscal year end time period. Cause The cause of the missing payment was due to management oversight. Effect or Potential Effect The requirement to deposit surplus cash within 60 days of the fiscal year end was not met. Auditor Non-Compliance Code B - Failure to make required residual receipts deposits Questioned Costs There were no known questioned costs. Reporting Views of Responsible Officials Auditee agrees that the surplus cash deposit was not made within 60 days from year end, 6/30/18 (September 1, 2018) into a residual receipts account as per the regulatory agreement. Context During the audit of the residual receipts account it was noted that the surplus cash deposit was not made within 60 days from year-end. Recommendation Auditor recommends that management ensure the surplus cash deposit is done timely in the future. No further action is required. Auditor?s Summary of the Auditee?s Comments on the Findings and Recommendations The finding represents an isolated instance of management oversight. Response Indicator Agree Completion Date March 21, 2019 Response Auditee has made the required FY18 surplus cash deposit of $1,687 into the established United Bank residual receipt account in March 2019, and has established a system to ensure the surplus cash deposit is done timely in the future.
