Effect: The required deposit was not made and earnings did not accrue on the $3,000 throughout the year. Cause: Procedures are in place however, because of a fatal illness to an important individual within the Organization, the transfers appear to have been overlooked. Auditor?s Recommendation: Management of the Organization should be reminded of the procedures in place to ensure this doesn?t occur again. Views of Responsible Officials and Corrective Action: The full $3,000 was transferred into the replacement reserve account as soon as the error was discovered. The Organization has also transferred the required amounts for the subsequent year. Management will ensure that this does not occur again.

What is a management decision? →Corrective Action Completed Finding 2019-01 Condition and Criteria: The Organization and its Parent Company, Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness, Inc. share a building and employees and thus must reimburse each other throughout the year for shared costs as vendors cannot split bills. At June 30, 2019, the Organization had mistakenly transferred $36,969 too much to its parent for reimbursement of shared costs incurred throughout the year. The $36,969 is reflected as a receivable on the attached financial statement. Effect: According to the regulatory agreement, projects are not allowed to provide loans to project owners, officers or management agents. Cause: Procedures are in place however, because of a fatal illness to an important individual within the Organization, the calculation and transfer exceeded the proper amount. Auditor?s Recommendation: Management of the Organization should be reminded of the procedures in place to ensure this doesn?t occur again and provide for a check to confirm the amounts being paid are accurate. Views of Responsible Officials and Corrective Action: The full $36,969 has been transferred back to the Organization. Management will ensure that all future payments are accurate.
